Πατριαρχείο Αντιοχείας: Η μὴ ἀνταπόκριση τοῦ Πατριαρχείου Ἱεροσολύμων στὶς εἰρηνικὲς προτάσεις τοῦ Πατριαρχείου Ἀντιόχειας ἀπειλεῖ τὴ σύγκληση τῆς Ἁγίας καὶ Μεγάλης Συνόδου

Τὸ Πατριαρχεῖο Ἀντιοχείας μετὰ θλίψεως καὶ ἐκπλήξεως, ἐπληροφορήθη περὶ τῆς ἀποφάσεως τῆς Ἁγίας καὶ Ἱερᾶς Συνόδου τοῦ Πατριαρχείου Κωνσταντινουπόλεως, μὲ ἡμερομηνία τὴν 31ην Μαΐου ἐ.ἔ, ἡ οποία προβλέπει «τὴν σύστασιν, ἀμέσως μετὰ τὴν Ἁγίαν καὶ Μεγάλην Σύνοδον, Ἐπιτροπῆς ἐξ ἀντιπροσώπων ἀμφοτέρων τῶν ἐνδιαφερομένων Ἐκκλησιῶν [τῆς Ἀντιοχείας καὶ τῶν Ἱεροσολύμων], ὑπὸ τὴν συντονιστικὴν εὐθύνην τοῦ Οἰκουμενικοῦ Πατριαρχείου, πρὸς μελέτην τοῦ ζητήματος καὶ ἐξεύρεσιν κοινῶς ἀποδεκτῆς λύσεως».

Ἡ Ἐκκλησία τῆς Ἀντιοχείας σημειώνει μὲ πόνον ὅτι ἡ ἀπόφαση αὐτὴ δηλώνει οὐσιαστικῶς τὴν παραίτηση ἀπὸ τὶς ἐντατικὲς προσπάθειες, ποὺ καταβάλλονται συνεχῶς καὶ γιὰ διάστημα πέραν τῶν τριῶν ἐτῶν, δηλαδή ἀπὸ τὴν ἡμερομηνία τῆς εἰσπηδήσεως ποὺ διέπραξε ἡ Ἐκκλησία τῶν Ἱεροσολύμων, προσβάλλουσα τοιουτοτρόπως τὴν ἐκκλησιαστικὴ δικαιοδοσία τῆς Ἐκκλησίας τῆς Ἀντιόχειας εἰς Κατάρ. Τὸ Πατριαρχεῖο Ἀντιοχείας ἀνέλαβε κατὰ τὸ ὡς ἄνω διάστημα πολυάριθμες εἰρηνικὲς καὶ συμφιλιωτικὲς πρωτοβουλίες, τὶς ὁποῖες πρότεινε μέσῳ τοῦ Οἰκουμενικοῦ Πατριαρχείου, ὥστε νὰ βρεθεῖ ὁριστικὴ λύση γιὰ τὴν παραβίαση. Αὐτό ποὺ προξενεῖ περισσότερο πόνο εἶναι ὅτι οἱ προσπάθειες αὐτές, οἱ ὁποῖες ἔγιναν ὅλο καὶ πιὸ ἐντατικὲς παράλληλα μὲ τὶς προετοιμασίες γιὰ τὴν Ἁγία καὶ Μεγάλη Σύνοδο τῆς Ὀρθοδόξου Ἐκκλησίας, ἀποσκοποῦσαν στὴν ἐξεύρεση ἐκκλησιαστικῆς καὶ ὁριστικῆς λύσεως τῆς εἰσπηδήσεως πρὶν ἀπὸ τὴν ἔναρξη τῆς Μεγάλης Συνόδου, οὕτως ὥστε ἡ Σύνοδος νὰ φανερώσει τὴν ἑνότητα τῆς Ὀρθοδοξίας, ἡ ὁποία θὰ ἀποκρυσταλλωνόταν μὲ τὸ ἐναρκτήριο Συλλείτουργο κατὰ τὴν ἡμέρα τῆς Πεντηκοστῆς. Ἡ ἔναρξη τῶν ἐργασιῶν τῆς Συνόδου στὴν ὄντως μεγάλη αὐτὴ ἑορτή, μὲ τὴ συμμετοχὴ ὅλων τῶν κατὰ τόπους Αὐτοκεφάλων Ἐκκλησιῶν, ἀποτελεῖ τὴν εὐθύτατη καὶ ὀρθὴ ὁδὸ πρὸς τὴν ἐξέταση ὅλων τῶν ζητημάτων ποὺ ἀπασχολοῦν τὴν Ὀρθόδοξον Καθολικὴν Ἐκκλησίαν καὶ τὴν ἔκφραση τῆς ὁμοφωνίας ἐπ’ αὐτῶν.

Ἡ νέα ὅμως κατάσταση, ποὺ δημιουργεῖται ἐκ τῆς ἀναβολῆς τῆς ἐπιλύσεως τῆς ἐν λόγῳ παραβάσεως μετὰ τὴν Ἁγία καὶ Μεγάλη Σύνοδο, ἀφαιρεῖ ἀπὸ τὴν ἐπικείμενη Σύνοδο τὸν ἐπιθυμητὸ σκοπὸ τῆς συγκλήσεως αὐτῆς, ἤτοι «τὴν ἔκφραση τῆς ἐνότητας τῆς Ὀρθοδοξίας». Διὰ τοῦτο ἡ μὴ ἀνταπόκριση τοῦ Πατριαρχείου Ἱεροσολύμων στὶς εἰρηνικὲς προτάσεις τοῦ Πατριαρχείου Ἀντιόχειας ἀπειλεῖ τὴ σύγκληση τῆς Ἁγίας καὶ Μεγάλης Συνόδου κατὰ τὴν ὁρισθεῖσα ἡμερομηνία, κίνδυνος περὶ τοῦ ὁποίου ἔχει ἀπό καιροῦ ἐπισημάνει ἡ Ἐκκλησία τῆς Ἀντιοχείας.

Σήμερα καλοῦμε ὅλες τὶς Αὐτοκεφάλες Ὀρθόδοξες Ἐκκλησίες νὰ ἐργαστοῦν ἐντατικῶς ὥστε νὰ περιφρουρηθεῖ ἡ ἑνότητα τῶν Ὀρθοδόξων Ἐκκλησιῶν ἔναντι τῶν κινδύνων ποὺ τὴν ἀπειλοῦν. Ἡ καθ’ Ἡμᾶς Ἱερὰ Σύνοδος ἐντὸς τοῦ πλαισίου τῶν ἀνοικτῶν αὐτῆς συνεδριάσεων θὰ ἐργασθεῖ ἐντὸς τῶν ἑπομένων ἡμερῶν, ἐξετάζοντας τὶς τελευταῖες ἐξελίξεις σχετικὰ μὲ τὴν Ἁγία καὶ Μεγάλη Σύνοδο καὶ θὰ λάβει τὶς δέουσες ἀποφάσεις. Προσευχόμαστε ἀπὸ κοινοῦ καὶ εὐελπιστοῦμε, μαζὶ μὲ ὅλους, ὅτι τὸ Πανάγιο Πνεῦμα, τὸ ὁποῖο ἐτοιμαζόμαστε νὰ δεχθοῦμε κατὰ τὴν Πεντηκοστή, θὰ ἐμπνεύσει τὴν Ἐκκλησία καὶ τοὺς Ποιμένες Αὐτῆς καὶ θὰ τοὺς καθοδηγήσει στὴν ἀληθινὴ ὁδό, ὥστε νὰ μαρτυρήσει σήμερα, περισσότερο ἀπὸ κάθε ἄλλη φορά, περὶ τῆς ἑνότητος στὴν ὁποία ὁ Κύριος μᾶς κάλεσε.

A Statement Issued by the Secretariat of the Holy Synod of Antioch

The Patriarchate of Antioch has received with much distress and astonishment the decision of the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, dated Tuesday, March 31st, 2016, calling for the setting up of a committee of representatives from both the Patriarchates of Antioch and Jerusalem, under the coordinating responsibility of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. This committee is to begin meeting right after the Holy and Great Council, for the purpose of finding a solution acceptable to both parties for the current conflict.

The Church of Antioch painfully recognizes, through this aforementioned decision, that all the efforts undertaken since three years, from the time of the aggression of the Jerusalemite Patriarchate on the canonical jurisdiction of the Patriarchate of Antioch in Qatar, and all the peaceful initiatives that the Antiochian Patriarchate has initiated through the Ecumenical Patriarchate in order to find a final solution to the aggression, have failed.

It is more painful to see that all the efforts were intensified on the eve of the Holy and Great Council, and which had as a purpose to find a permanent and an ecclesiastic solution for the aforementioned aggression. These efforts have been specifically made before the beginning of the Holy and Great Council, so that this Council would be an expression of Orthodox Unity. This unity is best manifested in the Divine Liturgy on the day of Pentecost, with the concelebration of all the Orthodox Autocephalous Churches. This act of concelebrating is the right way to deal with the issues pertaining to the Orthodox Church worldwide, and to express unanimity about them.

The new development, which is the call to postpone solving the issue of the aggression till after the Holy and Great Council meeting, invalidates the purpose of the Holy and Great Council, being as the “Expression of Orthodox Unity.” The indifference of the Jerusalemite Patriarchate towards several Antiochian peaceful initiatives threatens the convocation of the Great and Holy Council at its specified meeting date, a matter which the Antiochian Church has repeatedly warned about.

Today, we call upon all the Autocephalous Orthodox Churches to work diligently in order to preserve Orthodox Unity, facing all what threatens this unity. Our Holy Synod has kept its meetings open, and will meet in the next few days in order to study the special developments related to the Holy and Great Council, and take the proper decisions about them. As we await the coming of Pentecost, we pray together, and hope from the Holy Spirit, to inspire the Church and Her leaders, that they may find the right way to witness for the unity which the Lord called us to fulfill, today more than ever before.

Le patriarcat d’Antioche a accueilli avec chagrin et stupeur la décision du Saint Synode du patriarcat de Constantinople, en date du 31 mai 2016, concernant ‘la formation d’un comité de représentants des Eglises d’Antioche et de Jérusalem, avec le patriarcat œcuménique comme responsable de la coordination, qui devra se réunir immédiatement après le Saint et Grand Concile’ en vue de trouver une solution acceptable aux deux parties pour régler leur différend.

L’Eglise d’Antioche tient à souligner avec tristesse que cette décision implique une résignation devant les obstacles qui entravent la recherche d’une solution définitive à ce différend causé par la violation de l’Eglise de Jérusalem des limites territoriales canoniques de l’Eglise d’Antioche dans l’Emirat de Qatar, et ce malgré les efforts fournis depuis plus de trois ans, à travers de nombreuses initiatives iréniques du patriarcat d’Antioche, par l’intermédiaire du patriarcat œcuménique.

Cet état des choses est d’autant plus affligeant que ces efforts, accentués en concomitance avec le processus de convocation du Saint et Grand Concile, avaient aussi pour but d’arriver avant le début du concile à une solution ecclésiale définitive de cette violation, afin qu’il puisse mieux témoigner de l’unité orthodoxe, cette unité qui trouve sa plus haute expression dans la Sainte Liturgie qui va inaugurer ses travaux, le jour même de la Pentecôte. Car une telle inauguration, avec la participation de toutes les Eglises autocéphales, en ce jour, est la meilleure façon d’aborder les problèmes de l’Eglise Orthodoxe dans sa catholicité, et d’exprimer l’unanimité orthodoxe les concernant.

Mais la situation actuelle, se basant sur une résolution de l’infraction de l’Eglise de Jérusalem après le Grand Concile, prive celui-ci du but même qui lui était assigné, à savoir celui ‘d’exprimer l’unité orthodoxe’. La fin de non-recevoir de cette Eglise des propositions iréniques antiochiennes met donc en péril la tenue même de ce Concile, à la date prévu, ce à quoi l’Eglise d’Antioche avait toujours mis en garde.

Nous appelons aujourd’hui toutes les Eglises orthodoxes autocéphales à œuvrer avec diligence afin de préserver l’unité du monde orthodoxe, face aux dangers qui la menacent. A cet effet, notre Eglise a maintenu ouverte la session de son Saint Synode, qui se réunira dans les prochains jours, pour évaluer la situation vis-à-vis du Grand Concile et prendre les décisions nécessaires. Nous élevons nos prières au Saint Esprit, que nous nous préparons à accueillir, le jour de la Pentecôte, afin qu’Il inspire à Son Eglise et à ses hiérarques, la meilleure façon de témoigner, aujourd’hui beaucoup plus qu’avant, de l’unité à laquelle nous a convié le Seigneur.
